Finland-based XR company Varjo has announced a partnership with defense company BAE Systems to develop a groundbreaking unified synthetic environment for the immersive training project called Project OdySSEy. In this project, BAE Systems will bring together experts in simulation, supercomputing, data analysis, augmented reality, and virtual reality to create a single synthetic environment that enables air, land, sea, space, and cyber forces to train together. This will allow military forces from all domains to undergo regular and safe training in a virtual world, gaining crucial battlefield experience without the challenges and limitations of on-site collective training and limited war scenarios. Varjo will provide advanced high-resolution headsets for Project OdySSEy. The collaboration aims to advance training and simulation capabilities by combining Varjo's state-of-the-art immersive technology with BAE Systems' expertise in military training. The partnership will be showcased at a global defense and security exhibition in London, where attendees will experience the integration of Varjo's technology in Project OdySSEy, including simulated training combining the Typhoon fighter jet and Varjo XR-3.
