Google has released ARCore 1.6, an update that brings further enhancements to create more realistic and engaging augmented reality (AR) experiences. The update includes more accurate boundary tracking and multiple lighting optimizations for Sceneform, a 3D rendering engine for Java developers. With support for ARCore on over 250 million devices, developers can now reach a large and growing user base. Sceneform's lighting has been improved to match the lighting in the real world, with the default lighting changed to neutral and white in order to make digital objects look more natural. The rendering of Sceneform has also been optimized to blend more with the surrounding environment, making virtual objects better match the user's space. Additionally, Google has added screenshot and recording capabilities to Sceneform, enabling developers to showcase their applications and allow users to share screenshots and videos on social media platforms. The new versions of Sceneform and ARCore support new devices such as the Samsung Galaxy A3 and Huawei P20 Lite.
