Valve recently released their new generation VR headset, Valve Index, which has made their partnership with HTC more delicate. The two companies initially collaborated on the release of the VR system, HTC Vive, which officially launched in 2016. To promote the new product, Valve has launched a new SteamVR website, where there is no trace of HTC Vive except for a hardware support statement. The statement declares that "SteamVR is the ultimate tool for experiencing VR content on the hardware of your choice" and supports Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows MR headsets. The new SteamVR website has replaced the HTC Vive website navigation panel on the homepage sidebar with Valve Index. The website design has also changed from the blue color scheme to a mix of soft orange, blue, and black. SteamVR is a system that drives hardware products supporting OpenVR, such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows MR, and Valve Index, allowing users of these devices to enjoy VR games and applications on the Steam platform.
