Voices of VR Podcast: I am Xavier, the CEO of Syoss. Syoss focuses on providing virtual reality technology for mental health care, specifically exposure therapy. This therapy gradually exposes patients with anxiety-related disorders to situations that make them feel afraid, helping them gradually adapt and reduce anxiety levels. The key to exposure therapy is gradually exposing individuals to stimuli, allowing them to become less anxious as they observe them. The intensity levels are determined by therapists who decide what situations to expose patients to. Currently, Syoss only provides technical support, and the exposure process is conducted by therapists themselves. The therapists have a control panel to manipulate the virtual reality experiences, creating intense experiences or gradually enhancing the intensity. There are eight virtual reality environments available for different treatments, such as fear of flying, fear of injections, fear of crowded places, fear of heights, fear of animals, fear of public speaking, and fear of driving. Syoss has successfully helped individuals overcome their fears, and they collaborate with top institutions and professionals in the field. The company plans to expand its solutions to treat conditions like PTSD and OCD in the future. Virtual reality has the potential to revolutionize various industries, including healthcare, education, and entertainment.
