2018 Global VR Hackathon·Shanghai Station successfully concluded on July 1st. Participants gathered in Shanghai and formed teams to develop their projects within 48 intense and exciting hours. The submitted works were diverse and innovative, with some exploring new interaction methods. This year's hackathon, hosted by VRCORE, was the second edition. Last year, different regional competitions were held in China, Australia, Austria, New Zealand, and Germany, with a total of eight teams making it to the final in Shanghai. This year, the hackathon expanded to more cities, including Shanghai. The winning teams from each city will gather in China for the final. The theme of this year's hackathon was "food", which inspired the participants to create VR/AR works related to the theme. VRCORE provided independent development spaces and equipped each team with VR-ready computers and VR headsets. The teams showcased their works during the pitch session, and a panel of judges selected the winners. Chesstar team won the championship with their innovative work "Big Eater TV". The event was a platform for developers to collaborate and exchange ideas.
