Gaijin Entertainment,the studio behind War Thunder (2013), announced that its upcoming aerial VR combat game, Ace Thunder, will be available on PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets later this year.
Ace Thunder was announced in 2023 and originally planned for release in the fourth quarter of 2024. It will feature a range of iconic World War II aircraft for SteamVR and PSVR 2. Gaijin has already showcased a wide selection of WWII planes and has now added a series of WWI planes as well.
The studio stated, "Symbolic fighters like the Fokker Dr.I, the famous plane flown by the Red Baron himself, or the SPAD S.XIII, the favorite aircraft of René Fonck, the player with the most medals in the allied forces, will have realistic and detailed cockpits, historically accurate weapons, and authentic flight models, providing an unprecedented immersive gaming experience." The lineup of aircraft includes the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet IL-2, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.
Although the exact release date for Ace Thunder is still unknown, the studio has mentioned plans to launch it in 2025. In the meantime, players can add it to their wishlists on Steam and the PlayStation Store while awaiting the release of the PSVR 2 version. Pricing information has not been revealed yet, but any new information about Ace Thunder will be closely monitored.
