Gaijin Entertainment, the studio behind War Thunder, had announced that their VR flight simulation game, Aces of Thunder, would be released in Q4 of this year on Sony PSVR 2 and Steam. However, the team has now announced that the release date has been delayed to 2025, with no specific time provided.
Flight simulation games have always been an obvious choice for VR, as they emphasize immersion. Luckily, popular flight simulation games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, DCS World, and War Thunder have added support for VR headsets.
However, in most cases, flight simulation games with optional VR support lack natural interaction with the cockpit, such as grabbing the controls or twisting buttons and knobs.
Therefore, Gaijin Entertainment, the developer of War Thunder, hoped to leverage their experience in flight simulation games to bring a native VR flight simulation game, Aces of Thunder, to PSVR 2 and Steam in Q4 2024.
But in order to further optimize the game, the team has decided to postpone the release to 2025.
They stated, "Although almost everything is ready, we want a little extra time to perfect the game. Additionally, we have decided to prepare more content than originally planned for Aces of Thunder. We don't want to keep everyone waiting too long, but our goal is to create a fun, high-quality, diverse, and, most importantly, enjoyable game that everyone loves to play. And for that, we just need a little more time."
