Niantic发布多人AR体验演示内容《Codename: Urban Legends》
Niantic, the developer of popular AR game Pokémon Go, has released a multiplayer demo called "Codename: Urban Legends." In this game, players cast magic spells to attack monsters and save their partners, similar to Niantic's previous games. However, "Codename: Urban Legends" features a unique function: multiple players can join the AR environment through smartphones and battle the same augmented reality monsters. Niantic stated that this is just a demonstration and will not be released to the consumer market yet. Niantic has been dedicated to expanding the Real World Platform and creating a world-scale AR network. "Codename: Urban Legends" is a glimpse into the future of AR and 5G. Niantic has been exploring multiplayer AR and testing prototypes like "Codename: Neon" and "Codename: Tonehenge." Niantic hopes that AR games can become "killer applications" for 5G, and members of the AR Alliance have already been testing "Codename: Urban Legends." Niantic formed the 5G+AR Alliance in 2020, with initial members including Deutsche Telekom, EE, Globe Telecom, Orange, SK Telecom, SoftBank, TELUS, and Verizon, aiming to provide 5G specifications for AR content and define standards for innovation in the 5G world. The release date and supported smartphones for "Codename: Urban Legends" are currently unknown, but Niantic stated that once released, it will be an exclusive game for carrier partners' customers.
