Qualcomm has officially started accepting entries for the 2021 Qualcomm XR Innovation Application Challenge. In the 2020 challenge, the team from Ambile Technology developed a "Mechanical Arm Installation Guide" and won the gold award in the VR industry group. In an interview, Ambile Technology's general manager and product director, Tang Kan, shared more details about their entry. "Mechanical Arm Installation Guide" is a simulation training product for high-end manufacturing/ vocational education. It automates the operational training process of industrial mechanical arm production and installation, standardizes content, and reduces training management difficulties and long-term training costs. The product provides a realistic interactive experience with tools such as electric drills, hex wrenches, and marking pens, enhancing immersion and learning efficiency. The entry was developed using the Unity engine and was based on the Pico Neo 2 hardware. Tang Kan also discussed the challenges they faced during the competition and how they overcame them, as well as their team and their outlook on the future of the AR/VR industry. They expressed interest in participating in the next challenge with a development based on the "Honghu" MR glasses from Yingchuang Studios.
