Valve recently released the "Steam Hardware and Software Survey" for September 2021. According to the data, the monthly active VR headset user base on the Steam platform accounted for 1.80% of the total, increasing by 0.06% compared to the previous month. In terms of headset market share, Oculus Quest 2 regained its momentum after a slight decline in the previous month, increasing its share to 33.19%, reaching a historical high. On the other hand, Valve's Index headset showed the largest increase (+1.51%) this month, surpassing the discontinued Rift S, which had held the second spot in the rankings. In general, Oculus Quest 2, Valve Index, and Rift S continue to dominate the top three positions, with the gap between them and the rest widening. In terms of market share, Oculus, under the Facebook brand, still holds over half of the share at 60.75%. Other headsets in the Oculus lineup saw fluctuations, with the now discontinued Rift S experiencing the largest decline (-0.87%), but still ranking third with a share of 17.21%.
